Description
Long billed dowitcher in breeding plumage, Gilbert AZ.Long-Billed Dowitcher A long-billed shorebird recognizable for both its distinctive profile and sewing machine-like feeding action, the Long-billed Dowitcher is most common west of the Mississippi.Medium-sized shorebird. with a Bill twice as long as head,Moderately long, pale legs.Immature Description
Juvenal plumage with brownish gray chest and flanks, less spotting and barring than breeding adults. Back feathers dark centered with broad buffy edges, giving a slightly scaly appearance. Tertials dark grayish with narrow rusty edges.hey migrate to the southern United States and as far south as Central America. Long-billed Dowitcher is a rare but regular visitor to western Europe, with some individuals staying for long periods. These birds forage by probing in shallow water or on wet mud. They mainly eat insects, mollusks, crustaceans and marine worms, but also eat some plant material.I love it when these little birds flap their wings ,such a colorful pattern can be seen underneath their white wings.Fine Art America watermark will not appear on purchased artwork.

I love your shallow depth of field and how it is enhanced by the movement of the water. Great capture.
