Malachite butterflies are named for the green color that gives them a resemblance to the mineral Malachite. They are a large-sized butterfly with a similar wingspan as a Monarch about 2.5-4 inches. Common in central and south American and sometimes found in TX and FL in the United States this insect is a common resident at butterfly houses all across the Unites States.This one was posing on a leaf in Tucson, Arizona
